Born on Marie-Galante, a small tropical island south of Guadeloupe, I was accustomed to protecting myself from the sun by covering my head: turban, sarong, cap, West Indian headdress or straw hat… It could not be more natural for me!
My grandfather never went out without his hat, and I took great delight in trying it on whenever his back was turned. Oh, how he disliked anyone touching his hat!
For my 16th birthday, my father gave me my first hat. It very quickly became my signature fashion accessory. Then it was my partner’s turn to give me my first made-to-measure hat!
That is how I realised how much attention I paid to what adorned the head! It was therefore only natural that my first artistic collaboration should be with a hatmaker.
Pierre is a highly creative, 25-year-old self-taught sole trader who has been designing and making hats, mainly for men, for 3 years!
You could listen to him talk for hours about his hats and the techniques used to make them. He is every bit as passionate as I am!
So when I suggested that we work together by combining our skills, he agreed without hesitation!
It is also an opportunity to showcase his work and expertise, but above all to reach a female audience while creating high-quality, premium pieces.
In short, democratising the hat through all those who dare to wear one!
Together, we worked on hats that appealed to us. As there were several, we decided to offer a ‘modular’ design.
The client chooses the accessories and details she would like (grosgrain, chain, embroidery,).
We remained true to the House spirit by offering an elegant, refined hat.
